ckSync

Synchronize drives with óne click!

Introduction
Did you ever make a mess of your file versions on your Desktop and your Laptop? Well I did ! Therefore I wrote a program that updates the older files with the newer ones. The program is easy to use; Once configured, only one click is needed to synchronize all you files. ckSync is the name of that program. It runs under W95/98/00/NT/XP. The Demo version can be downloaded free and is fully functional during 30 days.

• ckSync lets you easily configure directories to be synchronized;
• ckSync lets you easily select extensions of files to be included in the synchronizing process;
• ckSync lets you synchronize one single file in a directory.
• ckSync lets you easily create Profiles to synchronize your Desktop with your Laptop, USB-stick or Network Drive;
• ckSync synchronizes your directories with one click.
• ckSync is bi-lingual. (Except for the Help pages; they are English only).
  This means that in a Dutch/Flamish/South African version of Windows ckSync speaks Dutch. Otherwise ckSync speeaks English.

Registration costs US$ 10,-. You will get an unlimited fully functional program. You will be alerted of updates by e mail. Registered users may download them freely.

Description
In order to keep the interface as simple a possible I used buttons to interface with the program along with menu's. You will find these buttons at the left side of the main window. At the right side is the Activity Window. Here all files that are updated are shown.

From top to bottom the buttons are:

    = Manage your Profiles
    = View the Profile's Properties
    = Start the Synchronizing Process
    = View the Log File
    = Update ckSync to the latest version
    = Get Information and Help
    = Exit ckSync

Manage
Click the Manage Button to organize the current profile. This is done in the Manage Window:

At the Left side are the directories of the local drive, at the Right side are the directories of the remote drive. In the middle are the files in the selected directory of the local drive.

• Check a file to include all files with the same extension to the Synchronization process.
• Click the "Add to Sync List" Button to add a pair of directories to the Current Profile.
• Click the "View Properties" Button to view the properties of the Current Profile.

View Properties
Click the "View Properties" Button to view the properties of the current Profile.
At the Left side are the extensions of the files to be included in the Synchronizing Process. At the right window are the directory pairs that are synchronized.

• Click the Remove Button to remove the selected extension from the list of extensions.
• Click the "Remove from Sync List" Button to Remove a Directory Pairs from the Sync List.

Synchronize
Click the Synchronize Button to execute the synchronizing process. The files that are updated are shown in the Activity Window. (The Log File shows all files that are processed).
View Log File
Click the "View Log File" Button to view the Log File. Here all directory pairs with all there files are shown with the action taken on them.

Update
Click the Update Button to check for the latest version of ckSync.
If there is an internet connection while starting ckSync this check is made automatically at startup.

Information
Click the Information Button to show the Information menu. It has three items:
  "Help - Contents"
    Click this item to get the contents of the help pages
  "Help - Index"
    Click this item, for the Index to the help pages.
  "About"
    Click this item to get information about the program and the author. Click the Register Button in the About Window to start the registration process.

Exit
Click the Exit Button to end the program. The changes in the Current Profile are saved automatically.
Conclusion
The demo of the program ckSync is freely available. If you like it please register the program. For only US$ 10,- you get a fully functional program and you will be notified of updates and bug fixes. You can always download the latest version enjoying most of your registration. The small fee for registration enables me to continue improving the program.

The demo is free. You may try the program without any risk; it can be simply removed from your computer ("Start | Configuration | Configuration window | ckSync" => Click the Add/Remove Button).

There are two way to Download and install the program:

First Method (Download and Install):

• Click Download and check "Open".
• Click OK and the program will be downloaded. After downloading it will be installed on your computer. Follow the directions of the Installation Program.

Second Method (Download and Save):

• Click Download and check "Save as...".
• Enter "c:\Temp" for the destination.
• Click "Open" and downloading starts. Now "cksync102.exe" will be placed in the directory "c:\Temp".

Installation
Installing the program is very simple too. Assuming the downloaded file has been saved in "c:\Temp" then:

• Click "Start | Execute".
• Enter "c:\Temp\cksync102.exe".
• Click OK.

Now follow the directions in the setup program to install ckSync on your computer.
