Introduction

Did you ever record beautiful music to discover later on that the recording was too loud and distorted? Well I did! therefore I wrote a program that let you control the digital recording level.

The program is called VUmeter. It runs on W95/98/00/XP/NT.
VUmeter shows the levels of your digital audio recordings. The scale has markings at -3dB and -10dB. The scale runs to -50dB.

VUmeter has two channals, so stereo mode;
You may select slow or fast fall back;
You may read the recording level on a dB scale;

Description

After starting of VUmeter the mainwindow is shown: Main window

Now you can check the current recording levels. Use the Windows Volume Control to adjust the volume of the input channel you are using.

The interface is as made simple as possible; You may select the fall back speed (slow or fast). In the Slow mode the peak levels are better visible

There is only one button on the window;

the Information Button.
Click this button and a menu will appear with two items:

Clik the menu item About for the About Window. There you will find information about the program:

Click the "Author" button in the About Window to get information about the author.

The program is free. You may try the program without any risk; it can be simply removed from your computer ("Start | Configuration | Configuration window | VUmeter" => Click the Add/Remove Button).

Download the program as follows:

First method (download and install):

Click Download and check "Open".
Click "OK" and the download starts. After downloading the program will be installed on your computer. Follow the directions in the installation program.

Second method: (download and save):

Use this method if you want to install VUmeter on a second computer.

Click Download and check "Save as...".
Enter e.g. "c:\Temp" as destination.
Click "OK" and downloading starts. The file "vumeter100.exe" will now be saved into the directory "c:\Temp".

Installation

Installing the program is very simple too. Assuming the downloaded file has been saved in "c:\Temp" then:

Click "Start | Uitvoeren".
Enter "c:\Temp\vumeter100.exe".
Click OK.

Now follow the directions in the setup program to install VUmeter on your computer.
